CORRECTION TO STAR STUDENT PIECE – In our first newsletter issue as well as in our "In the NEWS" section it was stated that KJ Brown was the first Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Living Faith Christian Academy in the 8th grade. It has come to our attention that Arielle Johnson was the first class valedictorian for LFCA . Our apologies for this mistake.
Showing Gratitude to Our Country’s Armed Forces
LFCA students, grades (4-5) were recently given the opportunity to express their gratitude to some of our country’s greatest givers. Airmen from the 514 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron (AES) received heart-warming handwritten letters and cards over the holidays. Here’s what some of our students had to say:
Dear Air Force men / women,
My name is Jenna and I have been praying for you. Thank you for keeping us safe. I am in 2nd grade. I know my handwriting is nice and my spelling. God bless you and your family.
Dear Air Force,
Thank you for protecting us from the air. We appreciate it. We hope that you come home really soon. I am from New Jersey. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Honor Society Inducts Students
On December 15, 2008, LFCA held its first induction ceremony for the newly founded Honor Society. Inductees included juniors and seniors who exhibit exceptional excellence in the qualities of service, scholarship, character, leadership and actively participate in community service projects. Seniors JaQuan Feliciano, Malcolm Still, Jalysa Derden, and Amanda Cooper gave stirring speeches on each of these characteristics at the ceremony. Members will take part in community service projects in 2009 such as tutoring services for the school and fundraising opportunities for the Ronald McDonald House in Camden. Congratulations to all of our outstanding new members!
S-I-X-E-R-S Pride – Students Root from the Sidelines
LFCA Student Council students along with Principal Gail Lewis and Teacher Marti Hill recently attended a riveting 76ers game. Tickets were cordially provided by Nicole Showell of the Showell Foundation. Students were invited down to the game floor to participate in the pre-game activities to create the signature 76ers pre-game high-five tunnel as players ran through and greeted the children before warm up for the game. And of course, our 76ers won which only added to the excitement!
The Showell Foundation was established to create a more productive society by enhancing academic achievement, promoting higher social and ethical standards, and expanding the cultural consciousness of youth, young adults, and adults.

High School Students Attend ACSI Leadership Conference 2008
On November 12-14, 2008 nine LFCA high school students attended the ACSI Leadership Conference in Harvey Cedars, NJ. Students had the opportunity to experience the comical teaching style of Pastor Paul Goodnight, attend amazing worship services, and work with student leaders in focus groups that were organized for the sole purpose of bringing leaders from different schools together. The conference, designed to assist students in building their skills as leaders and grow in their relationship with Christ so that they can affect great change within their school, proved to be extremely rewarding. During the conference, students put together a plan of impact through school debriefings and developed a school plan for significant leadership influence. Our students also branched out and helped their community as well by supporting a local homeless food pantry. Their ideas were well received. Our students worked hard to fulfill our mission statement that was perpetuated by LFCA founder Dr. Lamont McLean. During our group’s presentation in front of several other schools, students recited the LFCA mission statement full of passion with a true understanding of its importance and meaning to our school. Students agree they walked away from this experience as true leaders.
